SUZANNE KAVANAGH‍ ‍MC ,BA, BEd

REGISTERD PROVISIONAL PSYCHOLOGIST

Tues & Wed. Sessions are available virtually & in-person

Suzanne provides psychoeducational and autism assessments for individuals ages five and older. Her approach to assessment is informed by extensive experience with learning, development, psychoeducational assessment, and inclusive education, giving her a unique perspective on both understanding an individual’s needs and translating assessment findings into meaningful, practical recommendations.

Before entering clinical psychology, Suzanne spent more than a decade in education, including working as an Inclusive Education Lead and serving in school leadership as an Acting Principal. Her work centred on supporting students with diverse learning, developmental, and behavioural needs and included interpreting psychoeducational assessment findings, developing individualized education, support, and behaviour plans, and collaborating closely with families, teachers, psychologists, and multidisciplinary teams.

It was through this work that Suzanne became particularly drawn to psychological assessment. She saw firsthand the difference a thoughtful, high-quality assessment could make, not simply in identifying areas of difficulty, but in bringing together the pieces of an individual’s learning and development to create a clearer understanding of their strengths, needs, and how best to support them. That experience continues to shape her assessment practice today.

Working with me

I approach assessment with warmth, curiosity, and careful attention to the whole person. I recognize that an assessment is about much more than scores or a diagnosis. It is an opportunity to understand why someone may be struggling, recognize strengths that might otherwise be overlooked, and bring greater clarity to how they learn, develop, and experience the world.

My goal is to make the assessment process feel collaborative, thoughtful, and understandable for individuals and families. I want you to leave the process not only with answers, but with a meaningful understanding of what the findings mean in everyday life and practical recommendations that can help guide what comes next.

My background in both psychology and education also shapes the way I think about recommendations. Having spent years working with assessment findings in educational settings, I understand the importance of recommendations that are not only clinically meaningful, but practical and useful at home, at school, and in everyday life.

I’m glad you’re here, and I look forward to meeting you.
