YAWA IDI MACP, BSc.
REGISTERED PROVISIONAL PSYCHOLOGIST
Tues., Sat. & Sun. Sessions are available virtually & in-person
Hi, I’m Yawa! I’m a therapist who believes meaningful change begins with feeling genuinely seen, heard, and understood. Whether you’re 8 or 80, my goal is to meet you where you are and create a space where you can show up as yourself without judgment or pressure to have everything figured out.
I work with children, teens, and adults navigating anxiety and stress, emotional regulation, self-esteem and identity, trauma and difficult life experiences, life transitions and relationship or family challenges. I believe therapy doesn’t have to look or feel the same for everyone and together we can figure out what support looks like for you.
Working with me
No two people are the same. Every family brings unique strengths, challenges, and stories. My role is to help make sense of what is happening beneath the surface while creating a clear path forward that feels achievable and meaningful.
My approach to counselling is collaborative, evidence-based, and tailored to each child, adult, couple or family. I integrate Attachment-Based Therapy, Play Therapy principles, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), family systems therapy, and somatic approaches to meet children where they are developmentally. Sessions are designed to be engaging, practical, and appropriate for each child’s age, strengths, and unique needs. Anxiety, panic, or persistent worry in teens
I’m glad you’re here, and I look forward to meeting you.

Outside of therapy, I love travelling, experiencing different cultures, and learning languages. I’m conversational in French and am currently learning Japanese, and I especially value the connection that comes from communicating with someone in their own language. Learning languages has also taught me that communication is about much more than words, it’s about noticing the nuances in how people express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences, which is something I also bring into the therapy room. Fair warning - if I find out you speak another language, I’ll probably ask you to teach me a few words (and may keep coming back for more!).
I also love anime and reading, honestly anything that lets me dive into a new world, and enjoy staying active through sports and hiking. I’ve also been fortunate to travel to places including Egypt, Brazil, and England, with Japan, South Africa and Croatia currently at the top of my list to explore next!
Taking the first step can feel overwhelming, but you do not have to navigate it alone. Whether your family is facing a recent challenge or longstanding concerns, I look forward to partnering with you to help your child thrive.
